Mozzarella and Ricotta Calzone

Preparation

What You Need

1 ball homemade pizza dough or
store-bought , (be sure to let dough rise beforehand)
Flour to roll out dough
1/3 cup (50 g) Canadian Ricotta cheese
2 cloves garlic, crushed
A few leaves fresh basil or
1/2 tbsp (7.5 ml) dried basil
3/4 cup (100 g) Canadian Mozzarella cheese, grated
2 tbsp (30 ml) olive oil
4 pack (125 g) mortadella or
prosciutto, chopped
Salt
Freshly ground pepper
1 egg, beaten

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400 °F (200 °C).

Using a rolling pin, roll out dough (it should be quite thin). Using a pastry cutter, cut out circles 10 cms in diameter.

Mix together all ingredients except flour and egg. Season with salt and pepper. Spread mixture in the centre of dough circles. Do not overfill.

Brush egg on dough edges and fold into semicircular pockets. Pinch along edges to seal.

Brush egg over dough pockets, bake in preheated oven 12-15 minutes, until golden. Serve hot.
