Preparation

What You Need

1 cup (250 ml) bottled barbecue sauce
1 cup (250 ml) milk
1/4 cup (60 ml) brown sugar
2 tbsp (30 ml) mustard
2 tbsp (30 ml) soy sauce
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
6 pork butt chops, 3/4-inch (2 cm) thick

Instructions

In a medium sized saucepan, combine the barbecue sauce, milk, brown sugar, mustard, soy sauce, onions and garlic. Bring mixture to a boil. Simmer gently, uncovered, stirring often, 10 to 15 min or until thickened. (Sauce can be used immediately or refrigerated for up to 5 days.)

Pat pork chops dry. Place them in a 9 x 13-inch (23 x 33 cm) baking dish in a single layer. Spoon sauce on top.

Bake in a preheated 375 °F (190 °C) oven for 40 min.

Tips

Baking pork chops in the oven in a barbecue sauce makes them tender and juicy and adds an outdoor flavour all year 'round. The sauce can be doubled and frozen for future use.

Microwave Method: Prepare sauce in microwave by combining first seven ingredients in a 3 qt (3 L) microwave safe bowl. Cook, uncovered, on High (100 % power) for 8 to 10 min, stirring every two min, until boiling and thick. Continue with step 3 as above.

Note: Recipe tested in 700 watt microwave oven.
