Want to make nutritious snacks and packed lunches for children in a snap? Check out these fun and easy ideas that taste great with milk. And remember! It’s important to include foods from all four food groups for lunch, and at least two for snacks.
English-Style Pizza
Slice an English muffin, spread with tomato sauce and top with leftover chicken pieces, chopped peppers and shredded Canadian Mozzarella cheese. Delicious hot or cold!
Omelette Roll-Up
Line a large whole-wheat flour tortilla with lettuce and thinly sliced Canadian Swiss or Havarti cheese and top with a cooked, cooled omelette. Add a thin layer of barbecue sauce or ranch salad dressing and roll up tightly.
Pita-Calzone
Finely slice and sauté some mushrooms and bell peppers. Spread tomato sauce over a whole-wheat pita. Spread sautéed veggies and finely sliced ham and Canadian Mozzarella cheese on one half, then fold the other half across and seal with a toothpick. Serve cold or slightly warmed.
