Tips

Plan ahead so the kids can make these shakes as an after school snack. Buy fresh fruit when it’s in season or on special and freeze it in a single layer on a baking sheet or buy bags of frozen fruit. Divide the frozen fruit into recipe-size portions in freezer bags and store in the freezer ready to grab quickly.

For fewer calories, use no fat yogurt instead of ice cream.

You can also use 2-3 tbsp of instant pudding mix for a thickener with 1% or skim milk along with your choice of fruit.

If you like After Eights, add a bit of mint flavouring to a chocolate shake. You can use chocolate instant pudding powder to chocolate milk.
