Crumble with Ice Cream and Caramelized Apples

This crumble has all the great taste and texture of an apple pie.

  • Yields 8 servings

Preparation

What You Need

1/2 cup (125 ml) butter
1/2 cup (125 ml) sugar
4 Empire apples or
Cortland, peeled, the heart removed and diced
1/2 tsp (3 ml) ground cinnamon
A pinch of ground nutmeg
A pinch of fleur de sel
8 cups (2 l) of vanilla ice cream
1 cup (250 ml) of muesli or
granola

Instructions

Melt butter in a pan, add the sugar and caramelize until golden caramel color.

Add diced apples, cinnamon, nutmeg and cook for about 5 minutes. Add salt. Spread apple mixture in bottom of a glass serving bowl. Add ice cream using an ice cream scoop. Sprinkle with granola. Freeze 2 to 3 hours.

Remove from freezer and serve.

Note: Replace the granola with toasted almonds or walnuts.
