Creamy Herbed Pork Chops

Take one post-Christmas tight budget. Add one tight time schedule. Blend in a family favourite- pork chops. The result is this quick and delicious dish.

Preparation

What You Need

4 pork chops
2 small onions, sliced
2 tbsp (30 ml) all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups (375 ml) milk
1/2 tsp (2 ml) salt
Pepper, freshly ground
1/2 tsp (2 ml) dry sage or
1 tbsp (15 ml) fresh thyme, chopped
Nutmeg to taste

Instructions

Place pork chops in large, cold fry pan over medium high heat. Brown chops on each side; reduce heat. Add onion slices and 1 tbsp (15 mL) water. Cover and cook over low heat until chops are completely cooked, about 25 min. Remove chops to warm platter.

To 2 tbsp (30 mL) pan drippings, add flour and blend until smooth. Over medium heat, add milk, stirring constantly until gravy thickens and boils. Blend in salt, pepper, herbs and nutmeg. Simmer for 2 min, to blend flavours. Pour over pork chops.
