Brown Sugar Nuggets

Preparation

What You Need

1 cup (250 ml) shortening or
butter
2 cups (500 ml) brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
2 tsp (10 ml) lemon juice
1/2 cup (125 ml) milk
3 3/4 cups (925 ml) flour
1 tsp (5 ml) baking soda
1 tsp (5 ml) salt
Whole almonds or
pecans , (optional)

Instructions

Cream shortening or butter with sugar; add eggs and beat until light and fluffy. Add lemon juice. Blend in milk, then dry ingredients. Chill dough for 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 400 °F (200 °C). Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto lightly buttered cookie sheets. Top each mound with a whole nut, if desired. Bake 8-10 minutes.
