A Pizza for Everyone!

Cooking is a great activity to do with your kids. Start a new tradition by creating “pizza night”. Once a week, get together as a family and let everyone prepare their own pizzas according to individual tastes and preferences.

Both kids and adults love pizza. Besides the traditional Neapolitan version, made with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese, there exist an infinite number of variations, limited only by one’s imagination. Possibilities include using different types of dough, cheese, sauce, and toppings such as vegetables, meat, fish or seafood.

Homemade pizza is easy to make and ready in no time. Plus, it allows you to cook with fresh foods and healthy ingredients to create something that is equally nutritious and delicious.

One pizza, so many possibilities

Make your own pizza dough - or not
Because it’s made with yeast, traditional pizza dough requires a few hours to rise. In the Pizza Night menu, we’ve included recipes that use baking powder instead. This type of dough is flattened as soon as it’s ready and cooks fast. Other easier alternatives include precooked pizza or bread dough, tortillas, flatbreads, pita breads or English muffins, which can be used to make mini pizzas.

Tomato sauce - or something a little more unconventional
Although tomato sauce is delicious, why not try salsa, bechamel sauce, or homemade or store bought pesto sauce? For a more daring version, use barbeque sauce instead.

Toppings
Toppings can be as simple as a bit of olive oil and fresh herbs, or more varied depending on your mood, inspiration or the ingredients you have on hand. Prepare a plate full of vegetables, seasonings and cooked meats or cold cuts, chopped and ready to go so that everyone can choose their favourite toppings. Let the textures, flavours and colours guide you.

Types of cheese
Kids will enjoy adding their favourite cheeses. Gouda, Monterey Jack and Mozzarella have a mild flavour and melt easily. Other types of cheese, such as Provolone, Blue, Feta, Colby, etc. can also be used alone or in combination. There are so many options!

Pizza’s versatility means that it can be served hot or at room temperature, as a snack, main meal or even for dessert. The Pizza Night menu includes a sweet pizza, topped with pears, pecans and a delicious hint of cinnamon and ginger.

Everyone loves pizza and will enjoy getting to work preparing their own personal versions. A real tradition in the making!

Anyone have any ideas what pizza toppings would go well with the parsley pesto I made?

My husband and I enjoy making homemade pizza. We would like to try something different but healthy. Thank you for the new pizza recipes.
