Facts
Did you know that milk products are the best natural source of calcium?
In addition, they contain other nutrients such as protein, phosphorous, zinc, riboflavin and vitamin B12.
Hormones and antibiotics
Canadian milk is one of the safest and most tested foods in the country. In fact, before reaching the supermarket, milk undergoes rigorous testing to ensure no antibiotics are detected and that the milk is of the highest quality. This means that you can enjoy delicious milk products, worry-free!
Hormones for cows? Not in Canada.
Growth hormones to stimulate milk production are not approved for sale in Canada and so are not permitted for use. To maximize milk production, producers make sure that their cows are healthy and well-nourished.
Milk and antibiotics don't mix
The use of antibiotics in the dairy industry is strictly regulated. A dairy cow is only given antibiotics if it is sick. The cow is milked separately and its milk is discarded until it contains no residue of antibiotics.
