Manitoba
Eastern gateway to the Prairies, Manitoba is a mosaic of eclectic cultures and beautiful landscapes.
The province is currently home to a single Canadian cheese maker who produces a large variety of cheeses, including several types of Cheddars (fresh, mild, marbled, light, medium, aged, flavoured, white, smoked and unsalted), as well as Edam, Gouda, Monterey Jack, Mozzarella (natural and smoked) and Swiss cheese, among others. Although provincial cheese production is still modest, Manitobans love their cheese, with a yearly per capita consumption hovering around 7 kg.
