British Columbia

The "super, natural" province certainly deserves its nickname, with its breathtaking landscapes and unspoiled nature.

British Columbia can also pride itself on having one of the most diverse offerings of cheeses in the country, thanks in part to its numerous artisan cheese makers.

The cheese industry itself is quite varied and comprised of medium and large-sized processors and cooperatives as well as family-owned and smaller operations. Cheese lovers in the province have access to a great selection of products, from classics such as Cheddars, Goudas, curd cheese and other familiar varieties, as well as a wide variety of fine cheeses, including unique washed and bloomy rind cheeses, one-of-a-kind Blues and several organic and farmhouse cheeses.

In fact, British Columbia is the province with the most number of wins at the Canadian Cheese Grand Prix after Quebec and Ontario and ranks third in the country for cheese sales. With so much going for it, this is one stop on the gourmet cheese train you won’t want to miss!
