Ham 'n' Swiss Croissants

Preparation

What You Need

3 tbsp (45 ml) butter
3 cups (750 ml) sliced mushrooms
3 tbsp (45 ml) sliced green onions
1 1/2 tbsp (25 ml) flour
3/4 cup (175 ml) milk
Salt
Pepper
4 large croissants, halved
8 slices of ham
6 oz (170 g) Canadian Swiss cheese, sliced

Instructions

Melt butter in saucepan. Sauté mushrooms and onions until tender and mushroom liquid has evaporated. Blend in flour. Gradually stir in milk. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil and thickens. Add salt and pepper to taste.

On bottom half of each croissant layer 2 slices of ham, one quarter of the cheese and one quarter of the mushroom sauce; replace top croissant.

Bake in 350 °F (180 °C) oven about 15 minutes or until heated through.


Tips

Substitute pâté for ham and Canadian Brie or Canadian Camembert or Canadian Swiss.
