Let the Good Times Roll
Holiday celebrations can be good for every part of you, if you know how to sidestep holiday excesses and make physical activity part of the fun.
Go for Exhilaration!
Make this a Holiday season to remember. Enjoy your favourite foods, but make time for physical activity, like going for brisk walks in the fresh winter air—you’ll find yourself even happier and healthier than when you started. When feasting, opt for quality over quantity, savour the tastes and eat slowly. Love chocolate? Go for a small piece of good 70% chocolate rather than an entire bar of the cheap stuff. Also, think variety, moderation and balance. Adore fine cheese? Focus on the flavour, richness and texture—you’ll find moderate amounts very satisfying.
Consume what you need
During the Holiday season, our routine is not as set and we tend to put aside our regular habits—like having a good breakfast—which most likely include consuming milk products. A good way to make sure you consume enough milk products during the Holidays while adding variety to your Holiday menu is to include Canadian Cheese.
Liquid Variety
Another good idea is to alternate alcoholic beverages, which tend to be low in nutrients and high in calories, with other kinds of drinks—like sparkling water garnished with fresh fruit, hot milk laced with honey and nutmeg or spicy vegetable cocktails. In other words, vary all your pleasures!
Icy and Creamy
Ice cream is a sublime holiday treat. Want to know which ones are more nutritious? Look for a quality ice cream with a short ingredient list that starts with cream. Then read the label. Good ice cream generally provides between 8% and 15% of our daily calcium value per serving. Have a small portion (one scoop) and enjoy to the fullest.
